Motivated by an unsuccessful search for a compelling way to chronicle and share news about their kids with family and friends across the globe, Kidmondo was born.
Carole Hallac, mom of two, and her husband created a unique, personalized, secure online baby journal where you can record your babe’s first smile, first steps, and everyday adventures. Dig in, and complete growth charts, medical and food journals, even store pictures and videos in a virtual photo album!
Kidmondo offers the ability to turn your kiddo’s online journal into a beautifully printed ‘Kidbook’ - a priceless keepsake to be treasured for years!

1. Tell us a little about yourself, your family, and/or your business.
I live in New York City with my husband Daniel and our two boys, Davide (7) and Shaun (2). I am from Italy and moved here nine years ago and after a career in public relations, I became a freelance journalist. My husband and I created Kidmondoafter the birth of our second child, because we couldn’t find a compelling way to chronicle and share news about our kids with family and friends around the world. In the process of creating Kidmondo, the basic idea of an online baby journal expanded into a unique destination where all a child’s information is stored in a simple and accessible way. Not only it offers the journal and a photo a video gallery, but also growth charts, medical and food journal and a timeline. We recently launched the “Kidbook” that allows parents to convert their online journal into a physical baby book that can be customize.
2. If you had to describe your business in less than 15 words, how would you do it?
An online baby journal to share with family and friends in a safe environment.
3. What is your inspiration for your business? Your products?
Our kids, of course…When Shaun was born we realized that we did not remember a lot of when his brother was a baby. So we created Kidmondo around our needs as parents: we can record our kids milestones, stories and pictures and share them with our family abroad. We added the medical and food journal because our older kid suffers from food allergies. We created the Kidbook because even if we spend a lot of time online, we appreciate the feeling of looking through a physical baby book.
4. What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom? A mom-preneur?
Just looking at my kids, hugging them, spending time with them bring me such joy, and it is amazing how nothing compares to it. Being a mom-preneur allows me to be there for them whenever they need me, but at the same time allows me to have some personal gratifications that makes me a better person and a better mom.
5. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a mom-preneur?
First of all get help, because it is a real job, even if you are not employed by someone else. Be super organized by scheduling everything before hand, and try to include time for yourself (easier said than done…). Don’t expect everything to be perfect.
6. What keeps you motivated?
I am a person that gets easily bored so even if I complain at times, I love the challenge…But mostly I ‘m glad that I found a job that allows me to be around my kids.
7. What is your next big goal?
We can’t wait to launch Kidmondo in new languages and we are in the process of translating the site. We want it to be accessible to everybody, especially in those times were families live so far apart.
8. What is your guilty pleasure?
After the kids go to sleep, when I have energy, I love to play guitar hero and challenge my husband (which sadly always beats me…).
9. Name a product that you can’t live without, for you or your baby?
I am a big Mac fan, so for me my laptop, and for my kids, theiPod, we can take our music everywhere we go and it keeps them happy in the car.
10. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a mom {so far}?
Never plan too much ahead. Kids (as life) come always with a lot of surprises…
