Giving my children a nice warm bath, a cup of chocolate milk, and a nice hair brushing to get all the bath tangles out :) also i let them watch their shows during all this (after the bath)

Every night to help put dd to bed we give snuggle up with her and read to her. Once she falls asleep we tuck her into her sleep sack and off she goes for the night.

Shannon 06.08.09 at 6:18 am

We have a bath, PJ’s, bottle/cuddle, read a book then off to bed with the lullaby CD playing. Works like a charm!

islandveggie 06.08.09 at 7:10 am

every night before bed we brush teeth, DS picks 2 books and we snuggle up and read them.

Mearah 06.08.09 at 7:31 am

Every night we do a bath, massage, bottle, book and cuddle then off to dreamland.

Kristine 06.08.09 at 7:49 am

I give my DD a bath, change into pj’s, pop her soother in, read a story then put her in the crib, turn on the mobile and good night!

Roxanne 06.08.09 at 8:05 am

After bath, warm milk and story, my daughter and I cuddle and give each either butterfly kisses.

Alexandra 06.08.09 at 8:06 am

“Ba-ba” (bottle) with a snuggle, prayers and his special blankie…

Tanya 06.08.09 at 8:09 am

Don’t have one yet, as the little gaffer is still sleeping inside my tummy!!

Mindy 06.08.09 at 8:11 am

Every night we read a story of our two-year-old’s choosing, say prayers (he “blesses” every friend by name), then we recite “Hey Diddle Diddle” and insert silliness in between the lines.

Jocelyn 06.08.09 at 8:13 am

We change into jammies, brush teeth and hair, read books and then into bed.

Grandma 06.08.09 at 8:21 am

It’s a bath, a bottle, stories, lots of kisses, lots of hugs and then night night time!

Alisha 06.08.09 at 8:25 am

For us, its a bath full of bubbles, jammies & sleep sack, teeth & hair brushing, Daddy reads a story while Mommy gets the bottle warmed up - then lots of kisses & lights out.

Lynda 06.08.09 at 8:26 am

I love to sit and rock the baby and listen to her start to sing her goodnight song. She sings louder and louder until I’m shaking with laughter which tends to interrupt the going to sleep process. She loves music of any kind and it will be interesting to see if she sings with as much abandon when she really knows words.

Sarah 06.08.09 at 8:26 am

our bed time routine involves bath, story, milk and then ‘rudolph the red nose reindeer’ - this is a year round fav in our household.!

Candy 06.08.09 at 8:31 am

Our routine is pj’s, a little play time (usually involves lots of belly laughs), a few books and then to bed.

Michelle 06.08.09 at 8:32 am

Our bedtime routine starts with a bath. The we read a story, say goodnight to all the friends in our room and a nurse. Last thing in a big squeeze with our lovey in the crib.

Steffi 06.08.09 at 8:33 am

my daughter has to do her diaper dance before we change her into her PJs and then read and snuggle

Sara 06.08.09 at 8:34 am

We have two bedtime rituals around here - one simple and one not so simple… For our youngest - the ritual is to nurse and then get sung a mommy-made lullabye. It works really well for her and she falls right off to sleep.

For our oldest - he picks books (or we pick and tell him “not to read these books” and he get super excited to read them), we say prayers, sing his special song and turn on his CD player with lullabyes he has listened to since birth. Of course, he is 3 going on 13 so you have to inject a couple snacks, requests for drinks and potty breaks too.

Amanda Daybyday 06.08.09 at 8:38 am

We don’t do too much. Bath, brush teeth, comb out hair (which she HATES), pj’s, drink of milk, big hug, into the crib with her CD playing as she snuggles in with her beloved stuffed toys. See you in the morning precious one!

Melissa 06.08.09 at 8:38 am

I give DD a bath if she needs one, change into jammies, brush teeth, read two stories of her choosing, say prayers, take a sip of water, she hops into her side-carred crib, I turn off the light and lay down next to her for awhile. Pretty much goes like that every night :)

Eleana 06.08.09 at 8:39 am

We have a relaxing bath, story and cuddle and lullabies to drift off.

Kelly 06.08.09 at 8:42 am

We are still working on routines for the very little one, but it always involves snuggles! I am sure it would only feel snuggly-er with honeydumplings :)

Margo Gremmler 06.08.09 at 8:43 am

My husband and I each have our own methods, but they both involve reading a book and singing a song! Our little boy loves to hear us sing.

Diana 06.08.09 at 8:44 am

Bath time, P.J’s, snuggle up with their blankey and bear and settle down for a great story. Then comes the abundance of kisses, hugs, ‘night, night’, ’sleep tight’, ’sweet dreams’, ‘love you’ and any other stall tactics that they can think of……Ha!!

Stephanie 06.08.09 at 8:45 am

We take a bath, brush teeth, read a out of one of her storybooks, turn on her ladybug nightlight and lullaby music. Then its lots of hugs and kisses for Daddy and Mommy, then she runs up to her crib to tuck in “Noodles” (the monkey) on his special pillow. Then she gets another book to “read” to her friends and gets tucked in really tight under her special blanket.

Kelly F 06.08.09 at 8:46 am

We’ve mastered the routine with the 1st and the 2nd managed to fit right in!
Bath - Teeth - PJ’s - Book (or 2 or 3) - Snuggle
My oldest LOVES pillows in bed, this looks like a great addition.

Vickie 06.08.09 at 8:51 am

Every night the girls have a bath and get into their jammies, then we sit on the couch as a family and read two stories while the girls have a cup of milk and then it’s off to bed!

Adriana Piedra 06.08.09 at 8:55 am

At night I give my son a warm bath, put on his pj’s and curl up in our cushy rocker and read his favorite book (Where the wild Things Are) then it’s down with a teddy lovey.

Lisa 06.08.09 at 9:02 am

routine? - that’s a funny word. Double whammy while the 4 1/2 and 2 1/2 yr old are having a bath together. I sit and read them a book; which usually helps in the calming and non splashing part of bathing. Then jammies, teeth and another book while cuddled together in one of their beds. Read another one? ahh… already did the other one while they were bathing ! The pillow(s) would be loved by my children!

Olivia S 06.08.09 at 9:23 am

For Bedtime, we have bath, read a book, last pottytunity, nurse, lie down to sleep, he snuggles up with his blankie and fav stuff lovey, and he goes to sleep! :-)

Cathy 06.08.09 at 9:30 am

every night before we go to bed, we give our son a nice, warm bath. then we slip him into his jammies and sleepsack, read a book or two, nurse, then off to bed w/ hugs & kisses.

Dana Brierton 06.08.09 at 9:32 am

My daughter JUST moved to her toddler bed last night! We kept her routine the same - bath, cream, diaper, pjs, brush teeth and hair, books, lights out, time to cuddle for prayers and a bedtime song. Then she pushes the button on her noise machine and I sing another song as I put her in bed.
The first night was a success - she stayed in bed! We’ll see WHEN she realizes she could come out of her room if she wanted. :)

Sarah 06.08.09 at 9:32 am

Usually my little man gets a bath, jammies, one last bottle and some books and/or some quiet play time before cuddling up with his blankie to sleep.

Christina 06.08.09 at 9:47 am

Warm bath, followed by 3 bedtime books and then we lay down together and say how much we love each other. My 3 year old tells me every single night that I’m her best friend in the whole wide world. That’s my favourite part of our bedtime routine.

Jess 06.08.09 at 9:57 am

We do jammies, brush our teeth, read a story, hugs and kisses (lots of these) and always finish with a “Night. Night. See you soon.”

Julie 06.08.09 at 9:58 am

Our son recently trasitioned into a “big boy” bed and loves it! My husband and I take turns putting him to bed each night. First he brushes his teeth and we read a couple of books together. Then he takes a bubble bath and we cuddle and sing together while he’s drying off, his current favorite is the ABC song. Then he gets on his jammies, gets his binkie and bunny blanket and we look out his bedroom window at airplanes (this is his favorite part)! After we’ve seen a couple of airplanes, we say good night to everything outside (airplanes, trees, rocks, grass, birds, kitties) and we tuck him into his bed, turn on his music box and kiss good night. ;)

Lisa 06.08.09 at 10:05 am

After my boys get into their pjs, it is time for teeth brushing, story and then cuddle in bed with lights out. We always listen to the CD It’s a Big World by ReneeandJeremy.com every night and never get tired of it!

Nina 06.08.09 at 10:11 am

We snuggle in a rocking chair and I tell her stories involving funny animal sounds. Once she’s done giggling, I rock her until she’s fast asleep!

Kathy 06.08.09 at 10:27 am

Once all the bedtime things are done (bath, teeth and a drink) our baby boy has to get kisses from all his favorite friends… Benny, Desmond and Griff! then a little bedtime music and lights out and sweet dreams

Jemma 06.08.09 at 10:52 am

A bath, with books after and tuck her in with her 3 soothers ( a must! ) and 3 stuffed animals of her choice : )

Tanya 06.08.09 at 10:52 am

My little ones like the usual: bubble bath, lotions & potions, and two stories, plus all of the hugs, kisses and I love you[s] that make it all worth while! However there is one last funny trick guaranteed to get a smile from my son, he loves to be carried ‘upside down’ to bed. Not sure how I will pull this one off when he gets bigger?!

Allison 06.08.09 at 10:56 am

Sometimes we take a bath, but we always go potty now that he’s 2, we wash up, put on fresh jammies, and then snuggle up with a few books. We sing a few songs as a family and then it’s off to bed, lights out, perhaps some music on. His little brother is much easier: a nighttime nurse, a few snuggles, and then he will fall asleep once he’s in his crib, no matter what else is going on!

gina 06.08.09 at 11:07 am

First a tubby and then a massage with organic lavendar lotion. Then jammies, 2 stories, and a song. A kiss from mom and one from dad and then it’s time for sleep!

Diane 06.08.09 at 11:20 am

We clean up the toys, brush teeth and change into pj’s. we then read four little books and then clean up the bedroom toys that were brought out during storytime! then nursing with twinkle, twinkle little star being hummed and then to bed.

Natalie 06.08.09 at 11:59 am

Every night we have our nightly ritual. We have a nice warm bath, with plenty of splashing, and after while I am brushing out her hair, she gets to watch 1 episode of her favourite show, Dora the Explorer, or as she calls it “Boots”. She then gets tucked into bed with big hugs and kisses and she snuggles with her favourite blanket.

Ladine 06.08.09 at 12:46 pm

I have twins, so after the usual bedtime bath/massage routine, we used to swaddle them & then snuggle them into their crib together. I think they kept each other warm & they didn’t get lonely! They were amazing sleepers! Now they are 2 1/2 & they still sleep beside each other. It’s very cute.

Karen 06.08.09 at 12:48 pm

First a nice warm bath and some fun running around naked(I think that it’s my son’s favorite part). Then we brush our teeth, get into our pj’s. Then Ds gets to pick a story to read and cuddle to. Then it’s hugs and kisses and lights out.

Melissa 06.08.09 at 1:04 pm

Our bedtime routine consists of a bedtime snack and a glass of milk (otherwise our 3 year old will claim he is starving as a delay tactic in going to bed) we then change into jammies and read 3 stories in mom and dads bed. He then brushes his teeth and he gets one more story and then we race to see who gets to his bed first. We have a bed time prayer and our three year old always prays that God will bless Santa (smile) and then it is lights out.

christy 06.08.09 at 1:09 pm

Bath, pj’s, snack, teeth, stories, kisses and hugs. Then the fun begins. My two very chatty kids (2 and 4) share a room and I love to sit outside their door and listen and laugh as they rehash their day and make plans for tomorrow. The best nights are the ones when they sing songs in their high little voices. Melts me completely.

Candace 06.08.09 at 1:10 pm

We have a snack and brush teeth then put on pyjamas and let the kids each pick a book. Then we all read together and tuck them in.

Kathy 06.08.09 at 1:57 pm

We do have a bedtime routine: bath, toothbrush, PJs, books, books, books, milk, lullabies, followed with baby in the backpack for a long walk either outside or on the treadmill. Once lulled to sleep, we carefully get him out of backpack and on to the bed. And he still doesn’t sleep through the night! I think the pillows would do the trick.

Michelle 06.08.09 at 2:45 pm

always a bath, followed by many stories and a parent to fall asleep with.

Karen 06.08.09 at 2:50 pm

I’m still pregnant, but I like to give myself a little belly rub with a massage bar, I’m sure the baby enjoys it too!

Serena 06.08.09 at 4:33 pm

My little guy is still being rocked to sleep, but one of our favorite bed time things is singing the ‘poopoo and peepee machine’ song. It is so ridiculous but he loves it! My favorite part about putting him down once he has fallen asleep is putting him on his wonderful sheerling, he’s comfortable and I dont have to worry about any chemicals harming him.

Cherrill 06.08.09 at 4:45 pm

Fresh jammies, a bottle of milk, cuddle with mom and dad and then off to bed with her Blabla dolly!

Michelle 06.08.09 at 4:47 pm

We start with brushing teeth and then PJ’s. We then cuddle and rock with a bottle while I tell the same story every night. It’s the cutest story called “Are you ready for bed?” about a bunny who isn’t ready to sleep yet. Before I know it my son is snoring and then into the crib he goes.

Darcy 06.08.09 at 6:40 pm

We get on pajamas, brush the teeth, read a story, and then we cuddle and talk about our best and worst parts of the day.

Jen 06.08.09 at 8:32 pm

First we start with a bath or shower followed by teeth brushing. After a change in to PJs that DS gets to select we read 2 books then he gets to choose a few songs… then lights out, a few sips of water, the to sleep he goes.

Heather D. 06.08.09 at 8:52 pm

We read stories, say prayers, and sing our favorite songs.

Liezl 06.09.09 at 7:26 am

Our 15-month old twin girls know it’s bedtime when we announce “time to go upstairs”. They (not-so-willingly) leave the playroom and make their way up the stairs to their room. The first thing they do as soon as they walk into the nursery is go directly to the bookshelf and pull every book off the shelf until they find the one they are looking for. We then put them in their cribs so they can flip through the books while Mommy & Daddy get the bath and the bottles ready. We like to bath them separately so that they each get some one-on-one time with Mommy & Daddy. While one is having a bath, the other gets to to have a story read to them. Once they are both ready for bed it’s time to say “night-night”. We take them around the room and say “night-night” to almost everything in the nursery. Then we say “night-night” to each other and exchange hugs and kisses. Finally, they get to spend some quiet cuddle time with either Mommy or Daddy (we make it a point to switch every night) until it’s time to lay down in their cribs with their pillows, blankies, gloworms, and of course, “suckies”. Sleep tight little ones.

Gayle 06.09.09 at 8:12 am

After dinner my kids have a nice long bath together, then they get nicely groomed, clean jammers and a drop of a relaxing essential oil behind their ears. Their beds are always made and pillows fluffed. My daughter gets a snuggle and about 5 mins of lullaby music and my son gets cuddles and a couple of books.

Sandra 06.09.09 at 2:02 pm

Bedtime at my house starts with my three kids putting on their PJ’s and brushing their teeth. A little cuddle time with dad follows, a quick bathroom break, hugs and kisses all around and always “Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Last but not least is mom’s orders for breakfast.

kelley a 06.09.09 at 2:31 pm

Bath, PJ’s, reading, tickle time, cuddles, hugs and kisses and to bed with her blanket and stuffed monkey.

Alice 06.09.09 at 6:09 pm

We just do pajamas, bottle, and then off to bed with lullaby’s playing on CD player.

ning fathia 06.09.09 at 10:21 pm

I love to play (quietly :)), sing, and then washing the wee one’s hands and feet (maybe later brushing her teeth, after she has more than 2 :)) , and tuck her into bed. Little lights and soft music accompany her to dreamland.

Sue 06.10.09 at 8:10 am

With our 2 month old, we have a nice warm bath, then a fresh diaper, and rub Johnstons lavender lotion on her arms, legs and belly. Then daddy gives her a bottle of expressed milk (their bonding time) and she snuggles on his chest until she is almost asleep, then off to her crib.

Celeste 06.10.09 at 10:13 am

I don’t have my own kids yet, but I do teach PreK. At naptime in my class, I turn off all the lights, close the blinds and put on some relaxing music and have a box fan on for “white noise.” I then go around to each child and rub their backs. It works!

Emily 06.11.09 at 8:39 am

Our family’s bedtime routine is fairly simple, but it works - we change our 17 month old’s diaper, put her in jammies, and then read at least one book to her. If it’s my husband putting her to bed it’s almost always 3 or 4 books. Then she gets to turn off the light and call for the other parent, who always pretends not to hear at first, and then comes rushing up to give hugs and kisses. She then lies down with her favorite blanket and usually doesn’t ever make a fuss!

sherri 06.11.09 at 11:22 am

bath, get dressed for bed, books, songs and then tuck in time

Lisa 06.11.09 at 12:21 pm

It started with my son who would not leave our bed. Once we finally got him into his bed we maped out a bed time routine as outlined in “The No Cry Sleep Soloution” Well some of it still sticks like bath, teeth and books, but my favorite park is the part he added. When he is ready to go to sleep he rolls away from me and say “Rescue me mama” I put my arm around him and he is asleep in moments. It just melted my heart the first time I heard it, still does!

Lisa

Rita 06.11.09 at 6:34 pm

A snuggle and bedtime story. Lots of love yous and a tuck in.

This pillow looks gorgeous!

Brie 06.11.09 at 6:34 pm

Bedtimes are sometimes baths, always books, a song and a cuddle.

Tiffany 06.11.09 at 7:05 pm

Each night I like to read my son his favorite story along with a new section of his childrens bible. After that I turn on the CD of music that he’s been listening to each night since he’s been born. While we listen to the music we huddle together for Prayer time. After Prayers I smother him in kisses before we wish each other a good night.

karen 06.11.09 at 7:25 pm

Well….I feel very lucky. I have two children and a very family oriented husband. I put my daughter to sleep because I am still nursing her so her routine is bath, booby, (prayers) bed! :) My husband puts our 2 year old son to bed. His routine is bath, a story from Thomas (the BIG book as he calls it!), a few other little stories, lights out and white noise machine on, talk about the solar system (hanging above his bed), talk about the different oceans, and then talk about how lucky Mommy and Daddy are to have the most special boy in the whole wide world. Daddy gets up to leave and they blow kisses to each other out the door! Dear daughter will most likely have a similar routine soon too! Thanks!

Melanie Schmidt 06.11.09 at 8:07 pm

My husband & I always co-parent bedtime. We do a bath, cream, jammies & then warm milk & stories. Followed by kisses & I love you’s…that’s the best part!
We’ll be welcoming our second baby into this routine in one month! More kisses & lovies!

Hannah 06.12.09 at 6:30 am

Bath, moisturizer, finish the last bottle in the dark quiet nursery. I do the bath part, the rest is usually done by my husband.

Kali 06.12.09 at 8:58 am

we always pick out a few books and snuggle in bed and read them. We then give kisses and off to sleep!

Teresa 06.13.09 at 6:33 pm

Our bedtime routine is short, simple and sweet. Nico has so much fun in the bath, he uses all the energy he had left after running around and exploring the world all day. After he takes his bottle, a lullaby in his room is all it takes to send him to dreamland for the night, and he sleeps for a good 10-11 hours.

ida 06.13.09 at 7:30 pm

Our two-year old boy always sleep well when we stick to our routine: bath, brush teeth, jammies and slippers, bottle of milk in daddy’s arms, run around the house to release all that energy and then off to bed. Before we leave the room he says goodnight to his newborn baby brother and kisses him on the head - then we give our hugs and kisses and turn on a lullaby before we leave his room. Works like a charm!

JDSG 06.14.09 at 11:52 am

Our routine always consists of everyone lining up like a train and “chugga chugga choo chooin” throughout the house on our way to the bedroom where the children are tucked in and read a bedtime story (after they’ve brushed their teeth, an absolute must).
