1. Tell us a little about yourself, your family, and/or your business.
I am a thirty something mother, wife, photographer and entrepreneur.
Currently, my husband and I live in the mountains of Asheville North Carolina with our two young sons. The Modern Baby Co. first began as a creative outlet after the birth of my first son. The hobby quickly expanded into a business and has surpassed my greatest expectations.

2. If you had to describe your business in less than 15 words, how would you do it?
As parents we understand the need for kid friendly, stylish and practical products.

3. What is your inspiration for your business? Your products?
My business was inspired by the desire to work for myself in a creative field.
I also wanted to pursue a career that allowed me the freedom to be with my children while also contributing to the household income. My products are inspired by my unwillingness to sacrifice style due to parenthood.

4. What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom? A mom-preneur?
The most rewarding thing about being a mom is the unconditional love my children pour on me.
They do not care if I make mistakes or act silly. In fact, I believe they appreciate my idiosyncrasies. As a mom-preneur, I adore the fact that I am with them for all of the “firsts”.

5. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a mom-preneur?
I think it is important to understand that the idea of balance is really quite false for mom-preneurs. We do the best we can in any given situation. Beating oneself up because you can not balance everything is counterproductive. In addition, accepting that we can not accomplish all of our goals without help is crucial.

6. What keeps you motivated?
The genuine, positive response of our customers,
the encouragement of family and friends, as well as meeting goals keeps me reaching for the next level.

7. What is your next big goal?
My next big goal is design exclusive textiles for my product line.

8. What is your guilty pleasure?
cabernet sauvignon and chocolate.

9. Name a product that you cant live without for you or your baby?
For me -
the perfect pair of jeans that combines both comfort and flattering lines.
For my babies - the perfect blanket that combines both comfort and style.

10. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a mom {so far} ?
Allowing my children to learn from their mistakes is super tough, as I instinctively want to protect them from harm. But the first hand lesson is invaluable.
