this week’s featured moms: Rachel, Anna & Zoe of Playpants Modern Bloomers.

by True Cuddles on June 26, 2010

Meet Rachel Boguski, Anna Day, and Zoe Flower, three moms with 6 little bums of their own to cover. Recognizing a void in the market, the three set out to create a modern take on traditional baby bloomers.  Playpants Modern Bloomers was born.

You’ll be smitten by Playpants’ adorable collection of classic and ruffled bloomers for both boys and girls.

Playpants are as convenient as they are stylish.  Cover those dipes up to prevent curious babies from pulling them off or simply hide your toddler’s undies.  No buttons, no snaps, and no flaps!

1. Tell us a little about yourself, your family, and/or your business.
We’re longtime friends with a combined total of six children under four who, as many of us, were looking to balance motherhood and our careers. Playpants was born out of necessity last summer during one of our playdates - we thought, why hasn’t someone done this? So we did.

2. If you had to describe your business in less than 15 words, how would you do it?
The original modern bloomers that cover babies and toddlers from birth to three years.

3. What is your inspiration for your business?  Your products?
Our children, our personal style and our desire to create a quality product that’s locally made, functional and affordable.

4. What is the most rewarding thing about being a mom? A mom-preneur?
We are mothers first, entrepreneurs second - but it’s a close second. We are so fortunate to be able to share important milestones and moments at home with our children without feeling like we’re sacrificing ourselves. At the end of the day we’ve all accomplished something and we’ve all learned something new.

5. What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a mom-preneur?
That’s a big question! Do it, and don’t think you have to do it alone. We have a lot of support from friends and family and we make a lot of lists. Our threesome allows us to share more ideas, balance the workload and combine our strengths. We rely on each other (especially during times of sick children, new children and just plain cranky children).

6. What keeps you motivated?
The response to our brand from mothers, the community, our friends and family - and all of our littlest fans.

7. What is your next big goal?
Our little bottoms are heading south! We’re planning for distribution in the US as well as across Canada. It’s a big goal.

8. What is your guilty pleasure?
Wine, chocolate, online shopping, 80s power ballads. In that order.

9. Name a product that you cant live without for you or your baby?
Bloomers of course! We also love Aiden + Anais muslin wraps, Natursutten pacifiers and Broody Chick fully compostable and biodegradable disposable diapers.

10. What is the most valuable lesson you have learned as a mom {so far} ?
Everyday is about learning to let go, even if just a little.
